VN Index exceeds 418pts

In the trading session today Wednesday February 22, the VN Index of Hochiminh Stock Exchange (STC) gained 7.5 points, or 1.8 percent to 418.4 points.

The trading value reached 740 billion dong, down 6 percent from the previous trading session.

The trading volume reached nearly 55 million units.

The VN30 index increased nearly 1.9 percent to 471 points. The trading value reached 359 billion dong, equalling to 49 percent of the total trading value on the southern bourse.

Amongst 24 gainers in the group of stocks in the VN30 index, as many as nine shares reached the ceiling price.

The group of five key stocks, MSN, VNM and STB stood still at the reference price while VIC and EIB increased approximately 2 percent.

BGM, KSA, VHG and VNE continued to reach the ceiling price as from the previous week. This is the seventh consecutive week, KSA has reached the ceiling price, VHG posted the sixth straight week, VNE at fifth consecutive week and BGM at the fourth consecutive week.

Some other shares reaching the ceiling price had good liquidity such as HAG, HQC, IJC, LCG and PXL.

Considering the northern bourse, the HNX Index surged 1.8 points or 2.8 percent to 65.7 points.

Over 70 million shares were traded for a trading value of 558 billion dong, down 14 percent from the previous trading session.

HBB and PVX continued to lead the market in terms of trading volume, of which, HBB reached 12.7 million units (including 5.5 million shares were traded at the floor price of 4,500 dong each). At the time of closing the trading session, HBB reached average price of 4,600 dong each.

PVX reached nearly nine million shares.
